Receiving Money via Inward Telegraphic Transfer

What is an Inward Telegraphic Transfer?

An Inward Telegraphic Transfer (also known as an 'Inward Wire') is an electronic transfer of funds directly credited to your account from an overseas remitter.

How does it work?

Regional Australia Bank is pleased to bring you an easy way to receive international payments. By leveraging Convera's global banking network, transaction fees may be avoided or reduced2. When funds are deposited into a Convera nominated account they will arrange for the funds to be transferred to your Regional Australia Bank account at a competitive and guaranteed exchange rate without charging any fees2 3. Why should I ask my sender to send money via this service?

  • Exchange rate guarantee - Lock in a competitive rate for 72 hours2.
  • Better value for you – you are not charged a beneficiary deduct fee, so you will receive the full amount of your incoming payment.
  • Better value for senders – the transaction is completed as a local transfer.
  • Timely and reliable - Payments are usually received within 2-3 business days4.

What do I need to do to receive money to my account?

  1. Complete the Payment Instructions Online Form to generate payment instructions for your sender.
  2. Choose the country you are receiving funds from.
  3. Complete the relevant information in the online form and submit.
  4. You will then receive an email from '[email protected]' with payment instructions attached.
  5. Send the payment instruction to the person who is sending money to you.

Note that the person sending the money MUST:

  1. Present the payment instructions to their bank when sending the payment to you OR alternatively follow the payment instruction carefully if using their Internet Banking.
  2. Deposit the amount into the dedicated account as stated in the payment instructions in local currency and not in AUD.
  3. Include the Payment Reference (listed on the payment instructions) in the bank’s reference field.

Receiving money via Foreign Cheque

Conversion of Foreign Currency Draft / Cheque

If you have received a Draft / Cheque in a foreign currency, Regional Australia Bank, in association with Convera, will usually be able to convert it into Australian Dollars for credit to your account.

Typically, personal, bank, company or government foreign currency cheques can be converted (although money orders are not accepted). However, please note that some conditions do apply.

Speak to a branch staff member for further information. Cheques can be converted from a range of foreign currencies.

It's easy to receive payments from overseas

You can generate a Payment Instruction form by completing the online form and sending it to the person overseas who is sending the money to you. Rates are guaranteed for 72 hours2

Convera Holding's will hold a quoted exchange rate for 72 hours. The payment will need to reach a convera nominated account within this time frame for Convera to honour the quoted rate.

Convera processes over 25 currencies fee-free however some exotic or other currencies may attract fees. In some instances, intermediary banks may levy additional fees and/or charges

Payments are usually received by the beneficiary bank within 1 to 3 business days after receipt of funds by Convera in accordance with payment instructions. There is no delivery period guarantee. Some currencies may take longer than others to process.
